For the non-determinists!

For the market anarchists amongst us who do not believe in determinism, I ask you this simple question:

What is an incentive?

Think about it.

  1. An incentive is your motive for undertaking an action, weighed subjectively against the expected benefits from the act's completion, no?

The determinists will tell you that there is no choice - that all your actions are determined psychologically (Freudian), biologically (Darwinistic) or socio-economically (Marxists).
