This analogy isn't the best. Governments have a function. They help maintain society & communities in addition to keeping them unified. Before the government's invention, individual tribes or groups populated the earth. Since there was numerous resources & few people, wars or fights weren't that bad. However, ever since populations increased and resources decreased, it became clear societies needed a central or semi-central administration, with laws in order to survive. It also became clear that funding the enforcers of such laws needed a community fund. Thus, the social contract was born. Community funds also appear to help as many individuals as possible. This utilitarian ideal enables humanity to flourish in the best manner. We are safe, able to make money without fear of theives (excluding government, if you buy into the "tax is theft" arguement), have a system of laws defending us from theft (dissimilar to an anarchy) and even have some support if we are, at the present, unsuccessful. You, even can, with fellow members of this contract, vote for people who will support actions of the state you support. This will mean gaining what they want insurses the least amount of unhappiniess possible. A better state than any anarchy. With roads, law enforcers, law, and a safety net. And hopefully an accountable government. A utilitarian ideal: Democracy! Libertarian states or anarchies would have passive governments, theives, and everthing bad without law enforcement or a community fund. Democracy isn't perfect, however it is better than anarchy or minarchy.

I should have been more precise in describing th inaccuracy of your comic. The difference between your crude analogy and true government, is the person whose money is being "stole" isn't voting on the actions of the "Democratic Man". If he was voting for the action, as a voluntary citizen of the country, then he could have his money taken away. If citizens of a democracy don't like the taxes and the system completely, they can more. It is a voluntary social contract.
